Rex Adams is the Chief Executive Officer of EyeSouth, the nation’s largest comprehensive ophthalmology platform. Under Rex’s leadership, EyeSouth has grown nearly 3,000% in number of doctors supported, locations, and key operating and financial metrics.
Prior to EyeSouth, Rex was the Chief Executive Officer of Payspan, a leading health care technology company focused on health care reimbursement and payment automation. While CEO of Payspan, he was named a 2017 CEO Award winner by CEO Today magazine, and also named a 2017 CEO Award recipient by Finance Monthly.
Prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer of Payspan, Rex was the Chief Operating Officer of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. As Chief Operating Officer, he was responsible for the strategy, profit and loss, and operations of the nation’s largest pediatric hospital system. Prior to Children’s, Rex served as Chief Operating Officer at CareCentrix, a leading benefits management company providing home-based healthcare services to nearly 17 million patients.
Rex has also served in senior leadership positions at three different Fortune 500 companies. He served as chief operating officer at WellCare Health Plans, president and chief executive officer of AT&T East, president of BellSouth Long Distance, and president of BellSouth Wholesale Services. He began his career as a consultant at Monitor Company, a strategy consulting firm founded by Harvard Business School professor, Michael Porter.
Rex earned a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School. He also spent five years in the United States Army, graduating from U.S. Army’s Air Assault, Airborne, and Ranger schools.
