PITTSBURGH – (Aug. 10, 2022) – Scott & Christie Eyecare Associates is proud to officially announce and welcome Dr. Sara Stewart, the newest addition to its team of highly experienced and respected eye doctors. Dr. Sara Stewart is an ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology with subspecialty training in pediatric and adult eye movement disorders.
She began seeing patients at Scott & Christie Eyecare Associates as of Aug. 1, 2022.
“It’s a great honor to join the Scott & Christie team and serve patients with high quality, patient-focused medical and surgical eyecare,” said Dr. Sara Stewart, the newest ophthalmologist at Scott & Christie Eyecare Associates.
Dr. Sara E. Stewart, D.O. is a board-certified ophthalmologist. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and her Doctorate of Osteopathy from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Soon after, she completed an internship at University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center, a preliminary medicine year at The Ohio State University’s Medical Center in Columbus and an ophthalmology residency at Michigan State University with Beaumont Oakwood Hospital, where she was appointed Chief Resident. Finally, she completed a subspecialty fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at Akron Children’s Hospital before beginning her professional career as a clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh Eye and Ear Hospital where she trained students, interns and residents.

Prior to joining the Scott and Christie Eyecare Associates team, Dr. Stewart worked as an ophthalmologist at a multi-location private practice with offices throughout Western Pennsylvania. She has lectured at many national and international ophthalmology conferences and is a certified member of the American Osteopathic Boards of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology. She is also professionally affiliated with the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
Scott & Christie Eyecare Associates is an extension of the ophthalmology practice of the late Dorothy Christie Scott, MD. Dr. Scott was a pioneer in the field, becoming one of only a few female ophthalmologists in the Pittsburgh area when she began her practice in 1958. William C. Christie, MD, acquired Dr. Scott’s practice on July 1, 1990, and incorporated shortly thereafter as Scott & Christie Eyecare Associates, PC. They currently offer services at offices located in Fox Chapel and Cranberry Township.
